Services

What we do

Four services that cover what a small business actually needs from an accountant — kept deliberately narrow so each one is done properly rather than passably.

Bookkeeping

Books that are up to date every month, not scrambled together at year end.

Day-to-day bookkeeping handled properly: bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and superannuation. You get a clean set of numbers each month and a straight answer when something looks odd.

Most businesses come to us either because the books have fallen behind, or because they are being done but nobody is reading them. Both are fixable, and the first month is usually the hardest one.

  • Bank and credit card reconciliation
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Payroll and superannuation
  • Xero and MYOB setup and clean-up
  • Catch-up work when the books are behind

Tax & BAS

Lodgements prepared and filed on time, with nothing left to the last week.

Income tax returns and BAS for sole traders, companies, trusts and partnerships. We prepare the return, tell you what is owed and when, and deal with the ATO on your behalf if something needs sorting out.

If you are behind on lodgements, say so early. It is a far more ordinary problem than most people assume, and the ATO is markedly easier to deal with before they start chasing.

  • Quarterly and monthly BAS
  • Company, trust and sole trader returns
  • GST, PAYG and instalment activity statements
  • ATO correspondence and payment plans
  • Overdue lodgements brought back up to date

Cash Flow Support

Knowing what is coming, far enough ahead to do something about it.

A rolling view of what is coming in and going out, so a quiet month or a tax bill is something you planned for rather than something that lands on you. Useful whether you are growing, steady, or working through a tight patch.

Profitable businesses run out of money more often than people expect. It is almost always timing rather than trading, and timing is the part a forecast actually helps with.

  • Rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Budgets you can actually track against
  • Debtor and payment terms review
  • Planning for tax and super obligations
  • A clear view of the next three to twelve months

Business Advisory

Someone to think it through with before you commit.

Structure, pricing, hiring, buying equipment, taking on premises — the decisions where the numbers matter and the answer is not obvious. Practical advice grounded in your actual figures rather than general theory.

This is the part most owners have nobody to do. It does not need to be a formal engagement; often it is one conversation before a decision rather than a report afterwards.

  • Business structure and setup
  • Pricing and margin review
  • Growth, hiring and investment decisions
  • Regular check-ins rather than once a year
  • A second opinion before you sign something

Common questions

The things people usually ask before they get in touch.

Do I have to switch accounting software?

No. We work in Xero and MYOB, and if you are already set up in one of them we will work in yours. If you are on spreadsheets and it is holding you back we will say so, but changing software is a decision with a cost and it is yours to make.

What if I am behind on my lodgements?

Tell us early. Being behind is far more common than people think and it is a solvable problem — the ATO is considerably easier to deal with before they start chasing. We will work out what is outstanding, bring it up to date, and talk to them for you if a payment arrangement is needed.

How are your fees worked out?

Fixed and agreed before we start, so an invoice is never a surprise. We will tell you what is included and what is not. If something outside that comes up, you hear about the cost before the work happens, not after.

Do I need to come into the office?

Only if you want to. Plenty of clients we see once a year and deal with by phone and email the rest of the time. We are in Chermside if a face-to-face suits you better, and for some conversations it genuinely does.

Do you work with businesses like mine?

We work with small businesses across North Brisbane — trades, health practices, retailers, consultants and owner-operators. If we are not the right fit for what you need, we will tell you in the first conversation rather than take the work anyway.

Not sure which of these you need?

Most people are not, and that is fine. Tell us what is going on and we will tell you straight.
